A recent video shared on Instagram offers a moving look at that process through the story of Hera, a senior Bully whose life has changed dramatically since being rescued.

American Bullies are often judged by their appearance before people get the chance to know them. Despite their stocky build and powerful look, many owners describe the breed as affectionate, gentle, and deeply devoted to their families. A video shared by Instagram user @justgunnerstunner recently showcased that softer side while documenting the progress of a rescue dog named Hera.
The video takes viewers through several stages of the Bully’s first three months in her new home. It begins with footage recorded just minutes after she was rescued. Looking frightened and overwhelmed, Hera appears unsure of her surroundings and hesitant to relax.
The next update comes three weeks later. While Hera still seems cautious, there are noticeable signs of improvement. She appears more interested in exploring her surroundings and observing daily life around her.
The final portion of the video shows the senior Bully three months after her rescue. And the difference is hard to miss. Wearing a beaded necklace with her name on it, she appears far more relaxed and engaged. The nervous dog seen at the beginning of the clip has been replaced by one who looks more confident in her surroundings and more connected to the people around her.
In the caption, Hera’s owner reflected on what the journey has been like. According to her, bringing Hera home at six years old came with unexpected challenges. Both she and the dog had a great deal to learn, but over time they worked through those difficulties together. Looking back on the experience, she said Hera has taught her patience and served as a reminder that “everything really does happen for a reason.”
Today, Hera still has moments when she feels nervous and tends to stay close to her owner. “She’s definitely my little shadow around the house,” the owner wrote. Yet she now greets each day with smiles, excited “woos,” and a personality that continues to emerge.
