Harvesting the very first piece of homegrown fruit from a backyard tree usually feels like a major gardening victory. Waiting all summer for a single fruit to ripen requires months of careful watering and protective netting. However, in the video shared by @mygirl.leyla, an apple barely gets a chance to stay with its tree before rescue puppy Leyla is rolling around the grass with it.
Puppy steals mom’s only homegrown apple and plays with it in the garden
The video starts with the young apple tree, complete with its first fruit still covered for protection. An on-screen message explains that Mom had been waiting all summer for that first apple, which makes the next shot especially funny. Leyla is lying on the grass with the same apple beside her, still wearing its protective covering. “Surprise mom” appears on screen, and the next shots come in quick succession.
When Mom walks toward her, Leyla grabs the apple in her mouth and runs away. Soon, we see the puppy play with the apple in just about every way she can think of. She rolls around with it, paws at it, chases it when it rolls away, and even jumps around and over it.
At one point, Leyla stops to inspect her prize, and a very noticeable bite is now missing. The apple has officially gone from carefully protected homegrown fruit to well-used garden toy. This puppy steals the apple, and the video capturing it has earned 47.6k likes. Viewers are clearly struggling to stay mad at her. One person joked, “Why is this ball sweet?” while another said the puppy’s joy lasted much longer than it would have if the human ate it.
Mom eventually tries to take the apple from Leyla while filming, but lets her keep playing. The funny puppy garden video turns out to be less about the stolen harvest and more about a young rescue dog having a wonderful time with her unexpected new toy.
