Other people’s breakfast is much harder to ignore when it is sitting right beside you. Stella is tucked next to Dad at the dining table, resting her head comfortably on his right arm while he eats, but the way she turns her head toward the food gives her away. The Golden Retriever sneaks a quick look at dad chewing before shifting her attention straight back to his food.

Mom catches the move and starts laughing, which only makes Stella a little more careful. The video from @cheerfulcheeses shows her trying several different angles to keep an eye on breakfast without looking too obvious.

Golden Retriever awkwardly tries to hint that she wants dad’s food

In the video, Stella has chosen a quieter but very obvious approach to begging. Dad is eating breakfast from a bowl while sitting at the table with Mom and Stella. His left hand is busy with his meal, while his right arm has become a very convenient resting spot for Stella. She sits close beside him with her head settled on his arm, giving herself a pretty good view of what he is eating.

For a little while, Stella simply watches. Then her eyes flick toward dad as he chews. It is only a glance, but she follows it by looking straight at his bowl again. Mom notices and laughs, and Stella immediately seems to realize that her breakfast surveillance has been spotted. She moves her head away and faces forward, looking like she might finally leave Dad’s meal alone. Not quite.

The food is still there, after all. So, Stella turns her head in the opposite direction and tries another angle, apparently hoping for a better view without making the request too obvious. It is a very Golden Retriever way to handle the situation: stay close, stay sweet, and keep quietly hoping someone gets the hint.

With more than 2,200 likes, viewers recognized what was happening, too. One joked, “Correction from Stella: sharing only your meal is caring.” Another wrote, “One of these angles ought to work,” while someone else asked the question Stella was probably thinking of: “Are you done with that yet…?”
