Senior shelter dog has lived a hard life and now waits for a home
The Instagram reel begins with shelter volunteer Evelyn leading Emerson out of his enclosure for a special day. On-screen text notes a sad truth that people rarely choose older dogs first when looking to adopt. In the next few clips, we see the sweet boy spending some quality time out in the sunny yard.
Evelyn gives him sweet neck scritches while he calmly roams the grass. He even sits down in slow motion like an absolute angel. He quickly offers his paw when asked. The day eventually winds down, and Emerson heads back inside. The dog wears a blue onesie when he walks back inside his kennel.
The volunteer explains that the facility is completely overcapacity right now. Because of this, the lovely shelter dog faces a ticking clock unless someone watches his viral video and decides to adopt him. Evelyn admits she almost cried when Emerson lay in her lap.
