Sitting behind a glass door for over three months is enough to break anyone’s spirit, but one special resident refuses to give up on finding a family. Ryder is a resilient six-year-old rescue dog currently waiting for his adoption at a kennel in Atlanta, Georgia.

A dedicated volunteer captures the daily realities of these amazing animals over on the Instagram page @frompitstopeaches. Even though Ryder has spent an eternity waiting for an adoption miracle, he treats every single visitor like a long-lost best friend.

Rescue dog up for adoption after months in kennel still gets excited when someone stops by

The moving Instagram reel shows exactly what happens when a human finally pauses in front of Ryder’s small living space. The moment he realizes someone is looking at him, he breaks out into uncontrollable full-body wiggles. The dog’s tail wags so aggressively that his entire body shakes from head to toe.

He even pulls off an excited spin right in the middle of his kennel before pressing his face up against the front barrier. The sweet dog then smacks his lips and flashes a massive, goofy smile to show his intense gratitude for the brief interaction.

Sadly, the long-term confinement is starting to take a serious physical toll on this 45-pound guy. From the caption, we learn he has spent over 100 days inside the facility and has started rubbing his muzzle anxiously against the doors until he bleeds. Most animals lose their spark long before this milestone, but Ryder continues greeting strangers with hope and affection.

He is already neutered, loves meeting other dogs with a calm demeanor, and prefers peaceful coexistence over rowdy games. As of the time of writing, the video gathered over 1.7k likes from emotional viewers who are completely in love with his unique underbite and gray-tinted chin.

This perfect boy deserves to show off his happy dance in a real backyard instead of a crowded facility. If Ryder sounds like the missing piece to your family puzzle, you can save his life by visiting Fulton County Animal Services at 1251 Fulton Industrial Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30336. Let’s get this sweet pup out of the shelter and into a loving home.
