Some dogs, like this Golden Retriever, seem to make up their own dramatic rules about walking: the moment someone is watching, assistance becomes necessary. At home, Pacha stretches herself across a cushioned stool and waits for dad to give her hind legs a little lift. But the second nobody is paying attention, the video shared by @goldengirlpacha shows Pacha behaving very differently.
Once outside and apparently unwatched, Pacha is climbing boulders, clearing fallen trees, and running along logs by the water. With more than 354k followers, her account already has plenty of fans, and this funny Golden Retriever video gives them a very good reason to laugh.
Golden Retriever acts like she needs help walking whenever people watch her
Right away, Pacha is stretched across the cushioned stool while Dad gets down beside her. He gives her hind legs a little boost, helping her get all the way onto the stool. On-screen text says their Golden Retriever “can’t use her legs when people are watching,” and Pacha certainly looks like she is counting on Dad for help.
Then Pacha needs another lift at the kitchen counter. She is standing up on a highchair, and Dad bends down to lift her until all four paws are safely on the chair. Later, on another day, she returns to the stool and simply hangs there, waiting for another boost.
Next, Pacha gets some privacy, and suddenly those legs are working just fine. She jumps over a fallen tree trunk on the beach, climbs a tall boulder without hesitation, and runs along another trunk that has fallen into the water.
She even balances along a separate log toward shore, rolls around on the sandy cliffs, and hops onto a floating piece of wood in the water. The Golden Retriever who wants help whenever people are watching is suddenly doing just fine on her own.
More than 4k likes later, Pacha’s selective walking has given the viewers lots to talk about. One viewer joked that Pacha is simply showing off her “human servants,” while another diagnosed her with a serious condition called “selective laziness.”
