A serious team meeting was happening somewhere, but this Golden Retriever had other plans for the Essendon Football Club AFLW players. Jerry had barely arrived at the team’s headquarters when the players started fussing over him and reaching in for back scratches.
@essendon_aflw definitely knew what they were doing with this surprise. From the first chorus of “Jerry!” to the players crowding to greet him, this unexpected visitor was clearly very welcome. With all those people ready to fawn over him, Jerry seemed more than happy to stay a little longer.
Golden Retriever crashes team meeting, but no one wants him to leave
The video starts with players encircling Jerry as someone announces, “Everyone meet Jerry.” That is pretty much all the introduction he needs. Within seconds, there are hands all over his back, someone is giving him a hug, and several players are calling his name at once. Jerry seems so chuffed with this arrangement.
One player takes a closer look and declares, “Oh my god Jerry’s a fresh blonde,” while another gives him a proper cuddle. He gets plenty of back scratches, too, and keeps happily accepting all the attention.
Then Jerry decides it is time to investigate the building. He wanders into another room where a staff member says hello before he heads back out to the players. Apparently, one round of greetings was nowhere near enough.
Eventually, the Golden Retriever makes his way outside, where the meeting disruption turns into a full-blown zoomie session. He races across the grass from one end to the other, then stops long enough for another round of back scratches.
More players come out of the building, and Jerry immediately runs over to greet them. The video itself calls it a “perfect day for Jerry,” and after all those cuddles and zoomies, that seems about right.
The post has got hundreds of likes, and one viewer called Jerry the team’s “secret weapon.” The caption sums up the whole visit rather nicely: “When one Golden Retriever meets a team of Golden Retrievers.” There is even a shoutout to admin Liam for bringing Jerry along.
